I will be giving a presentation to the Mahler Society of Great Britain entitled: “Conducting Mahler: A View from the Podium”.

“What is it like to conduct a Mahler symphony?”
“How does a conductor prepare to conduct Mahler?”
“What is possible and what is permissible in a conductor’s interpretation of a Mahler score?”
I will examine these and other questions with reference particularly to symphonies 1 – 4. [NB. No score-reading ability will be assumed.]

Venue: Austrian Cultural Forum, 28 Rutland Gate (Knightsbridge), London SW7 1PQ.
Times: Coffee and biscuits at 10.30 for 11.00 start - Finish 4.00pm.
Lunch: There will be a selection of sandwiches – at cost-price – for lunch.
Tickets: £18 (£9 for students with card)
